A massage therapist who built a ten-location practice and a veteran therapy network, and kept watching good providers get stuck on the NPI.
SimpleNPI is run by Ammon Hardin, LMT, in Utah. He started as a licensed massage therapist, grew his practice to ten locations, then expanded it into a veteran therapy network that treats veterans through VA Community Care. Building that network meant enrolling and credentialing a large number of providers, and the same thing stalled many of them: the NPI. A free government number, a confusing government form, and a week lost before credentialing could even begin. SimpleNPI is the fix he built for his own hires, opened to everyone.
Licensed massage therapist in Utah. Grew a single practice to ten locations before the VA work began, so the business side of a practice is lived experience, not theory.
Expanded the practice into a network treating veterans through VA Community Care, which meant enrolling and credentialing a large number of providers with the VA, TriWest and insurance panels.
Credentialing cannot start without an NPI, and the NPPES form held up provider after provider. He automated the filing for his own hires, then opened it as SimpleNPI so no one else has to lose a week to it.
Because the NPI application stops people who should never get stuck on it.
An NPI is free and takes minutes to issue. Getting to that point means creating a CMS account, passing a multi-step sign-up, and working through an application written for billing offices. New practitioners put it off, enter a name that does not match Social Security records, or give up at the first job offer that asks for the number.
Create an Identity & Access account, set up multi-factor sign-in, then complete the NPPES application.Free. Usually a few business days end to end. A name mismatch can hold the number for about 20 days.
One short form on this site. We file the same application with CMS on your behalf.Free. Your NPI arrives by email and text, with all the documentation, usually within 10 minutes.
A private filing service. Not a government agency, and not the only way to get an NPI.
SimpleNPI is not affiliated with CMS. The NPI itself is free from CMS, and anyone can apply directly at nppes.cms.hhs.gov. SimpleNPI files the application on the applicant's behalf under the applicant's written authorization.
